BASIC POKER STRATEGY |
Poker is a game of money
played with cards. It is a game of skill and not luck. Each stage of each hand
requires a solid decision making process. A good player will not chase his
money. It is advisable to slow down when things are not going well. Play only
solid poker hands. Be aggressive too. A good player will try to increase the
pot when the cards seem favourable and he will be reluctant to part with his
chips when things are looking poor.
An aggressive player has two ways to
win. The first is to force other players out of the pot before they have a
chance to improve whereas a passive player can only win by showing the best
hand when the betting has finished.
When playing on the internet watch a
table for a while before sitting down to play. You may find weak players this
way. One thing to remember is this: "If you can't tell who the mug at the table
is, then it is probably you".
Always check hands when possible at the
end of a game, this can give you an idea of who likes to bluff and who only
bets with strong hands. Never play weak hands from the start. |
